The scheme / notification

Old Age Pension,
under the Social Assistance Programme

The Old Age Pension is implemented by the Department of Social Welfare, Government of Purvanchal, under the State Social Assistance Programme. It is a non-contributory monthly payment: nothing is paid in, and no agent is needed to claim it.

Who it is for

Residents of Purvanchal aged 60 years and above. One application per eligible citizen. Age is established by a birth certificate, a school leaving certificate or a Voter ID; in practice the Voter ID is what most applicants hold.

What you receive

Rs. 250 per month, credited by Direct Benefit Transfer to the applicant's own bank account. The account must be in the applicant's name — a family member's account cannot receive the pension.

How long it takes

Fifteen days. Under the Purvanchal Right to Public Services Act, an application the department has not decided within the statutory period stands approved. The nightly deemed-approval job enforces this; a citizen is never penalised for a file that sat in a queue.

What you need before starting

A mobile number for the OTP, a bank account and IFSC code, and one age proof document in JPG, PNG or PDF up to 5 MB. If you apply by voice, the assistant will ask for these one at a time and can photograph the document with your camera.

Withdrawing

A pending application can be withdrawn from the status portal and a fresh one submitted with the same mobile number. Once a decision is recorded, changes need the block office.
